AI Builders Foundation exists to empower individuals and communities with the practical skills to build, deploy, and benefit from artificial intelligence — regardless of background, geography, or economic status.

Four pillars, one active organization
Everything we do sits in four pillars — events to convene, courses to teach, a community to belong to, and open source to give back. Each pillar produces public, measurable proof of the work.
Events
Free hackathons and build weekends that convene the AI-builder community and turn learning into shipped projects. Live demos, mentorship, and prizes — the front door to everything else we do.

The largest single-day hackathon of the year. Two parallel hackathons pulled 1,096 unique builders into one venue — proof the community scales.

A multimodal AI-agent hackathon at the AWS Builders Loft. Builders shipped working agents against real production constraints, judged live.
Agent-Native Company Hackathon

We are structured to meet the bar funders and partners expect — properly incorporated, governed, and accountable — so a grant or donation goes to programs, not to fixing the fundamentals.
Legal status
California Public Benefit Corporation · Recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3), effective March 31, 2026. Donations are tax-deductible under Section 170.
Governance
Executive Director, Treasurer, and Secretary as separate persons, per California law. Adopted bylaws and a conflict-of-interest policy.
Fiscal
Transparent books, a lean operating budget, and 509(a)(1) public-support tracking from year one. Annual 990 filing.
Accountability
Our work is measurable and verifiable — open-source output on GitHub and impact metrics updated as actuals come in, not just asserted.
